Selling memories

People tend to buy postcards or magnets to remind them of vacations or travels. I was never fond of keeping items to remind memories. However, I am finding myself to be somehow attached to items of everyday use. I got this bike from my grandpa before starting high-school and used it since.

Yesterday I grabbed my Fuji X-E1 with the Mitakon 35mm f0.95 and hopped on to the bike for one last time. It is an interesting feeling to ride an old road bike like this. You are sitting high over the bike, feeling every bump on the road and it feels recklessly fast.

While riding through the city of Piešťany, through the same alleys as 5 years before I remembered the cold winter mornings, the first sunny warm days and also the rainy ones when I came to school soaking wet. I remembered rides with friends though night trying to get home after a beer or even the first dates and girls…

So here is the question. Is it worth getting rid of things that you don’t need anymore when the emotional value is so much bigger than the physical or financial one?
